Misha kept stealing glances at him as Vihaan drove them home in silence. After the encounter with his mother and Riya, they didn’t stay back at the party for long. Her mood was already sour, first due to Jasmine and second because of her bitter clash with the two entitled ladies. She was just glad to leave the madness behind and get back home.

Since when did you start addressing his home as yours? The voice in her head questioned, leaving her speechless. Thinking back, Misha realised she had been doing it for quite some time. She didn’t know when or how his villa became home for her.

“What’s wrong?” Vihaan asked, breaking the tense atmosphere in the car.

“Nothing. Why would you ask me that?”

“You are not mentally present here. Tell me, what’s bothering you?” He asked as he pulled the car over and turned to her. His intense gaze bored into her. “Is it something to do with what happened at the party?”

He was referring to her unpleasant encounter with Riya and Mrs. Tripathi.

“No. That doesn’t bother me. I have heard much worse than what those two had to say about me,” Misha replied truthfully. Though their mean words were distasteful, they didn’t matter that much. Both women were trying to assert power over her, but they failed.

“What do you mean?” Vihaan growled.

Every now and then, they would let me know I didn’t belong with them.”

The bullying was mentally exhausting, but she rose from it. By the time she was in college, the comments over her financial status had stopped affecting her. Poverty wasn’t a choice, nor was it her fault. She was working relentlessly to turn things around for her and her sister, and nothing would hold her back from achieving her goals.

“Do you still face it?” He asked.

Misha looked at him, noticing his clenched jaw and hardened gaze. He looked like a man about to commit murder, but his anger didn’t scare her now.

“I don’t. By the end of the first year of college, they realised I didn’t give a damn about their opinion. I could give as good as I got. After that, I was left alone. Nobody likes the taste of their own medicine, do they?” Misha curled an eyebrow at him, her lips pulling up in a smirk.

“You surprise me, baby. Every fuckin’ time,” he murmured. The edges of his lips tilted up in a smile while his dark eyes shone with pride.

Her heart skipped a beat. Damn! How he managed to control her emotions without even trying was beyond her understanding.

“If you don’t mind,
